Little Acorns Axminster Staff

Jaz Pollard

Nursery teacher

Hello everyone! I am the Nursey teacher at Little Acorns @ Axminster Primary. I am passionate about providing children with an environment they can thrive in and learn new skills. I qualified as an early years teacher from Exeter University and still live locally.

I love reading and writing and would go so far to say that English is my passion. I feel very lucky to be leading a dedicated team and watching the children learn though play. I particularly enjoy messy play and music.

In my spare time I love to go roller-skating. Although I am still learning the skill of it!

Beth Wilsden

Early Years SENDCo

bethHello I’m Beth, I am the SEND coordinator at Little Acorns at Axminster. I have been working in the education sector for over 11 years and hold a BA Hons in Education and have Early Years Professional Status. I have worked in a variety of settings, where I have held different roles, such as Pre-school teacher, SENCO and deputy manager. My previous post was as a Portage worker, as part of the Early Years inclusion team in Cornwall. Where I provided a home visiting service to children with additional needs and their families.

I enjoy getting to know the children at our setting and providing fun learning experiences to support their development.

Outside of work I enjoy beach trips, park visits and muddy walks with my partner and our two young children.

Jenny Featherstone

Early Years Practitioner

jennyHello – I’m Jenny and I have been working with young children for over 19 years. I have previously worked at 2 local Preschools, one as a preschool assistant and the other as Deputy Manager and Senco. I have a Level 4 in Children's Care, Learning and Development and a Level 5 award in Management. I also studied playwork and achieved a Level 3 in playwork for Early Years and childcare workers.

I have an avid interest in special educational needs and have attended several training courses including Autism, Speech and language, Basic Portage, and Including and supporting children with significant needs.

I enjoy working in a team treating every child as an individual, planning activities and fun things to do to help each child flourish and develop to their full potential.

I trained as a chef before changing my career to childcare, so love to cook, and enjoy using this skill with the children, as well as cooking at home for my family. In my spare time I enjoy caravan holidays to France with my family.

Early Years practitioner

christine

Hi, I'm Christine and I am a Level 3 Nursery Practitioner at Little Acorns Nursery. I love working with our preschool children, supporting them to become more independent, to overcome challenges as they grow and develop, and to encourage them to feel confident and ready to meet the world! I've been fortunate to work in Axminster, in Early Years, since 1990 and it's lovely to see some of our previous children returning as adults with their own children!

My hobbies are reading and playing music. I am currently learning to play the guitar and violin and I like running and long walks with my (very) lively dog.
